Saints Alive

The New York Times sends me an email every morning with the day's headlines. Their quotation of the day was as follows:

"She was just an ordinary person, like us. Inside all of us, we can be saints. We just have to do the work."

CHARLOTTE RECARTE, on Mother Marianne Cope, who is to be canonized as a saint on Sunday.

I admit that my knowledge of Catholicism and sainthood is somewhat limited, but even I thought that in order to be canonized, you need to have performed miracles.

This makes my sainthood, at least, unlikely.
